More than 1 million Michigan residents are uninsured. Many of these people rely on locally-operated, nonprofit clinics as access points for healthcare. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan provides continuous support for the uninsured and underinsured and awarded more than $1 million to 53 free clinics in the state. BCBSM has provided $7 million in grants to free clinics since 2005.
