Arvco Containers is taking the right steps to help their employees by initiating a Healthy Blue Incentive Program through Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan. This was tailored specifically for Arvco and the goals they were trying to achieve for a healthier workforce. Arvco participated in Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan's Telephonic Wellness where employees were coached towards a healthier lifestyle. Arvco Containers also set up an incentive program through BCBSM to pay for employee's (and anyone covered under their insurance) physicals and mammograms. In doing so, this helped save the life of an Arvco employee's wife. Maurice Cheeks works at Arvco Containers and with this incentive program being put into place, it helped detect Maurice's wife, Libby's breast cancer. They were able to find it soon enough to schedule and conduct surgery to save Libby's life. Since initiating these various wellness programs at Arvco Containers, their workplace culture of wellness has improved tremendously and they plan to keep it that way.
